Saturday is PhoBlog Day!

Today, I have several photos that are not really related at all.   So, here goes!

1)  This was on MSNBC this week.  Did you see it?  The rain in this city in Poland had all the waters rising.  Here we see two farmers rescuing work horses from the barn.

2)  I love happy endings… This foal was rescued by Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue.  As you can see by the ‘before’ and then the ‘after’ picture, this boy has improved greatly.  His name is Winrischa (aka Win) which means”Tall Oak” in the Wea Indian Language of an area tribe.  The rescuers named him that because “The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood it’s ground!”

3)  This is Gabe the Wonder Horse and his buddy Topper. I include pictures of them often because it is such a great story.  You can read it here.

Anyway, these pics crack me up.  Obviously, the photog bothered Gabe’s slumber.  You can just read his face, can’t you?!  “Hey, I’m trying to sleep here!”

4)  I love this one.  In Alaska, this man took his reindeer for a walk.  Her name is Star.  How sweet!

Saturday is HORSE AND MAN PhoBlog Day! Caption anyone?

Saturdays are Farm Phoblog Days.  Simple, just a HORSE AND MAN ranch photo and your thoughts…

Here are 3 of the residents.  Aladdin – a Morgan gelding on your left, Finn – a TWH gelding up front on the right and Beautiful Girl – a TWH mare behind.  No, not all of the equines here are chestnut with a star, it just looks that way from this picture.  ;)

I think they were hoping the camera was a huge, odd shaped apple, or my hat that day was particularly interesting…  dunno.

What do you think?

Saturday is PhoBlog Day! Donkeys, Drive-Up Windows, Good Little Icys and Blind Love…

Saturday is PhoBlog Day!  Today, I have several fun pics and a story…

1)  This is my neighbor and friend, Fran.  Her other good friend, Stella, is sleeping on her head.  I hope one day to get Stella over here for a playdate with my Norma.  Unfortunately, even though we only live minutes apart, both of our donks HATE the trailer.  So, it may never happen.  But, I wish it would…

2)  This photo cracks me up.  It is of Gabe the Wonder Horse (link here), who I wrote about a while ago, and his sidekick Topper.  Since it is now Summer again, the Drive-Up window is open!  Yup, their Mommy started this activity last year and both the horses took to it like ducks to water.  But, during winter, the window was closed.  Boo Hoo.  But, Yippee because Mommy has opened the Drive-Thru!  Now she can have horsey nose marks all over her window and hair mixed drool on her washing machine!  The things we do…  ;)

3)  You  met Tamara Gooch and her photography this week.  I loved this shot and wanted to add it  here.

4)  I wish my Icy filly would just follow along on a trail ride like these Icys.  Hmmmm.  I am delighted to see such a fun way to exercise the kids without having to ride them all.  Look Ma, No Hands (or lead ropes!).

5)  Finally, a lovely story…  This woman, Joanne Feldman, lives in So Cal.  She has had this horse, Chocolate Rose, for 23 years.  About 10 years ago, Rose lost one eye.  No Worries.  However, two years ago, Rose lost the other…

I caught a newspaper story of the pair.  Joanne visits Rose twice a day, every day!  She cleans her stall, feeds/brushes her, takes her for walks and (I love this) sweeps the cobwebs off of Rose’s nameplate.  You should read the story.  It is very touching.  Joanne lives alone and has very little money.  Their love for each other is total.  Enjoy the article!

Saturday is PhoBlog Day! Drafts and our Bucketboy, Red!

Saturday is PhoBlog Day!  It seems that I have assembled some Drafty pics… and the story of our lovely and talented Bucketboy, Red!

1)  Here is a pic I just loved that I found on the web.  There was no photo credit so I don’t know who shot this.  But, I think it is really special.

2)  This is a draft mule, John Boy, that was saved this month from auction by Eagle’s Nest Draft Rehab and Sanctuary (ENDRS).  Here he is, totally happy and relaxed to be with his new family.  I am so grateful for LeAnn and Wayne from ENDRS and all those who are available and willing to save these big guys from slaughter.  I cannot imagine this happy boy in some European restaurant…

Here is what LeAnn had to say about his condition when he arrived… I know they are working hard at fixing John Boy’s ills.  They say he sits all the time and watches the traffic go by.

“The Belgian is safe & soundly bedded down at ENDRS. He loaded like a perfect gentleman and trailered well from Jamesport. The weather was horrid.
I think he is pleasantly confused about the attention and intake process. Of course, he is filthy, skinny and wormey. No lice or ticks but he does have pale gums so he is likely anemic from worms. His feet are a mess and he is moving arthritic but maybe a good supplement will help with that. He had his first treat today and it took him several minutes before he took it from Wayne’s hand and ate it. However, after the first one, he was happy to accept as many as we would give.”

3)  This is our Bucket Boy, Red!  I had found this first photo of him holding his bowl on an obscure website.  But, through that website, I was able to contact the person who took the photo, Trish Lowe.  Trish said “Red” was her boyfriend’s horse since he was a baby and he was quite the personality!  Then, I asked Trish about him and she said that he is now owned by Ashley Crocker (Canada).  So, I asked Ashley about him and she said that he is still quite the character!  He is an 8 year old grandson of Doc O’Lena and she can teach him anything… Anything!   Red is very talented.  Ashley loves him and cannot see ever selling him.  She also sent along more photos of him.

Saturday is PhoBlog Day! See Filly Run! Cool Treehouse and a Wild Seal Makes Googley Eyes…

Well, today is PhoBlog Day!  I hope you enjoy these as I have gone slightly off the horsey track with some of these…

1)  Here is my favorite mini filly showing off her new body clipping at a full run!  The next pic is her visiting with Sunshine, her buddy’s Mom.

2)  This one is just the coolest tree house!

3)  I found an incredible, heartwarming video this week and wanted to share it. It was a video of a very wild seal who greets this woman, climbs on her, kisses her, hugs her and poses for her.  It was so awesome!  Unfortunately, the video was gone today and all I have is the screen shot.   Anyway, the hosting site replaced that video with this baby moose in the sprinkler video which is pretty cute.  If you haven’t seen it, click on the moose picture for the You Tube link.

Have a great Saturday!
